Aack, I know, I know, I kinda died on y'all there. Finals are over, and there is glorious, glorious rain to play in. =3
But I am back. And using yet another POV. This one should be easy to guess. (something about being too tired to bother hiding it much. >>; )
Just when I think I'm finally gotten a handle on things, my wonderful, wonderful friends go and turn everything upside down.
Again.
Though, to be completely fair, Fei and Oro didn't exactly get together for the sole purpose of messing with my head. It wouldn't be like either of them. But still, it's sorta mind-boggling. It hadn't really even registered they were that close of friends, to be honest.
Okay, and I can't pretend there isn't a little part of me that isn't dissapointed Fei's taken. If denial isn't working for Ben, then it wont work for me to try and pretend this isn't going on. It's clear enough, to watch them...they do really enjoy each other's company.
But there's something that bugs me. I'm probably thinking too much, but, dammit, I can't not. I can't see why it's the two of them, Fei and Oro, when it seems so totally unlikely. What's more, I know I'm not the only one who can't stop pondering this. Though, I like to hope that in Ben's case it's curiosity motivated. One can never tell....
But what bugs me more, is that as it's gotten closer to the holiday season (Chrismahannukwanzika, as Oro dubbed it. ) Ben seems to be satisfied with whatever answer he came up with, and isn't stalking the two of them more then he stalks any normal person.
There is something very wrong, in my mind, when Ben, Captain Oblivious, as it were, can pick these things up before me. Childish? Well....yes, a little, but that isn't the point.
So, at this point, I do what any self-respecting, mature college student would do.
I go pester Ben for an answer.
Or, rather, that's what the plan was, but he can see me coming a mile away. Or he just always smirks arrogantly like that. Both are possiblities.
"Looking for gossip? There'll be a price for that, Drew-fellow."
I open my mouth to ask what price, but he cuts me off.
"Nothing you can't afford, Drew-fellow. Payment after. You've come to the wise and all-seeing Ben for answers, yes? Then answers you shall have."
Great. Someone had a nice steaming helping of crazy this morning.
Again, it's like he knows the question before I ask, because he's cut me off before I can even speak. I hate it when he does this, I really do.
"Fei and Oro, right? That one looks hard, but it isn't,really. It's so simple it's hard to see, is all."
And Ben's lloking off into the distance, looking actually somewhat serious for once. Well, more...wistful then serious, but it's a change, and kind of suprising. I'd forgotten how different he looks when he's serious about something. It's.....odd.
"The thing is....Fei and Oro....They're different enough to be alike. The compliment each other, like red and green, or black and white. "
"...Wha...?" I'm totally lost, here. When did Ben stop speaking English?
Hey, he actually looks annoyed. Not angry, annoyed. Been a while since I've seen that face.
"Their strengths compensate for each other's weakness'. They're puzzle pieces, Drew. They fit. It's good for both of them."
...When did Ben go philisophical on me? And should I be worried it makes perfect sense, except when applied to Oro and Fei?
"...How do you figure that?"
He sighs. Sighs, like he's teaching a small child something. Damn, that's sad. When Ben is exasperated...That must be why I feel so embarrassed and stupid. Must be it.
"Look...You know Oro's quiet, kinda timid, right? And you might not have noticed, but that Fei never smiled sincerly before. Not once. It's creepy, to be so cheerful all the time and not really mean it."
Like Ben's one to talk. Sheesh...talk about pot calling the kettle, here.
"But, the thing is, they bring out the best in each other, make each other stronger. Fei actually really smiles now, and Oro's been gaining some backbone. They're learning. Growing as people. No matter how it turns out in the end, they will have both grown because of this, and in a good way, I think."
Oh. Well, that makes sense....and when I think about it, he's right, and it's been under my nose all along. Both of them seem more alive then before. I hadn't really noticed what he says about Fei, before, but he does seem happier, now, and it's clear that Oro's changing some, because of it. The runt has a wicked sense of humor in there, downright evil, even. I somehow suspect that's partly Alice's fault, but, that's moot, regardless.
The thing is, now I feel really kinda dumb, and sorta bad for not noticing that sort of thing, though I can't really rationalize why. And I owe Ben on top of that. He knows it too, which would explain that expectant look (I swear he's turning into a cat as the days go by.) he's giving me.
"...Thanks...uhm...so...I owe you....--!"
Hekissed me. The bastard kissed me. Dammit, he trapped me with misteltoe.
"I think that makes it even, Drew-fellow. Sorry to leave you hanging, but I've got many important things to do. Bye now!"
And there he goes.
I'm gonna kill him. I swear I'm gonna kill him.

(Part 5 Epilouge)
"Hey, Fei?"
"Mhmm? What is it, Oro?"
"Think we should tell Drew we're sending those pictures out as Chrismahannukwaanzikah cards? "
"....Nah. Wait until he gets his. It's more fun that way."
"....You are evil, you know that, right?"
"You know you love it."
" 'course I do. It's a lot more entertaining then watching 'It's a Wonderful Life' for the umpteenth time in a row."
"Not hard to do,Oro. Now, before we were interrupted by Ben's little plot..."
Yes, I'm a bad person. Don't stone me, I beg you.
Feedback good. Tell me what you liked, what you thought was off, about the characterization, etc.,etc.
*puppydawg eyes* Canonization? Confirmation I'm not an eccentric crack writer? Cookies? Pwease?
